During the 1960’s I periodically worked the swing and graveyard shifts when i went to college during the daytime. Lot of memories tied up in that decade of life. Night time workers are definitely a different kind of people.
Thank you, Pastor! I have been working the night-shift (spiritually and emotionally) for awhile now and just recently moved to the day shift (again, spiritually and emotionally). What I thought would have been an overwhelming flood of joy and elation was first – just overwhelming. New schedules, new environment, less stress in most areas, new stresses and challenges in other areas. It was so easy to feel off center and uneasy – and guilty for not being able to experience the wonderful blessing that God was giving me. It took me several days to come back to center and truly appreciate God’s unbelievable blessings in my life. Not deserved, but because of His love. I was able to do this by continually reminding myself that God is never changing and He will always be my Rock. (Psalm 18:2) “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
So, for those of us who have left the night-shift, know that there is a God who loves you and has already prepared a plan for your transition.
